Highlights of the 2018-2019 Fiscal Year
(October 1, 2018-September 30, 2019)

  • The food pantry and distribution center were open to serve families 95 days.

  • 7705 volunteer hours were dedicated to procuring food, serving families, maintaining records and reports, collecting and managing donated items such as clothing, furniture, household goods and personal care items which could translate into more than $100,000 of labor.

  • We served 434 Brown County families during the course of the year, representing 1636 individuals of which 585 were children.   This represented 2106 food pantry visits with 128,132 pounds of food being distributed with $25,839 being expended on procuring food (does not count value of donated food).  A generous arrangement with Hoosier Hills Food Bank and Midwest Foods significantly subsidize food costs.  SVDP Indianapolis contributes $550 per month for the purchase of meat.
  • Seven different community churches participated each month in the church food program and contributed 3113 food items.  Participating churches include:  Beck’s Grove Christian Church, Christiansburg United Methodist Church, Church of the Lakes, Nashville Christian Church, Nashville United Methodist Church, St. Agnes Catholic Church, and St. David’s Episcopal Church. Also contributing is the Sweetwater-Cordy Lot Owner’s Association.

  • $3947 expended for Helping Hands payments for emergency and utility assistance.  The total value of all distributions (food, clothing, furniture, household goods, personal care items and special programs) was $188,560 which includes the in-kind value of donated items.

  • 300 children redeemed vouchers for $60 at Walmart in Columbus for Back to School allowing them to purchase 366 pairs of shoes, 209 packages of socks, plus paper, notebooks, pencils, pens, art supplies, flash drives and calculators.  132 students purchased backpacks. Total program cost: $17,612.

  • At the 2018 Christmas Celebration we served 431 children and youth:
