About us

Who we are

St. Vincent de Paul (Brown County) is an all volunteer not-for-profit, dedicated to the service of local families since 1988. We were started by members of Saint Agnes Catholic Church as a conference under the Indianapolis Council of SVdP, a 501(c)(3) organization. During our last fiscal year (Oct 2022-Sep 2023) 190 volunteers, from Brown County and beyond, gave a combined total of more than 14,000 hours of service.

Current Officers:

Some History

What we do

We distribute food in our "Client Choice Food Pantry" and also toiletries, clothing, shoes, furniture, appliances, housewares, bedding, sheets, towels, books and toys free of charge.

We also support the weekly Pantry at St David's Episcopal Church in Bean Blossom on Thursdays from 3:30 - 5:30.

We have a limited amount of funds to help with utility bills. There is a $100 maximum per household per year. The money is paid directly to the utility company.

Our Back to School Program helps students prepare for the school year by giving out vouchers to purchase shoes, clothes and school supplies.

We distribute gift cards to be used to purchase Thanksgiving turkeys (November) and Christmas hams (December).

The  Blessing Basket Program helps with gifts for children.

Why we do this (SVDP's Mission & Identity Statements)

Mission Statement

A network of friends, inspired by Gospel values, growing in holiness and building a more just world through personal relationships with and service to people in need.

Identity Statement

Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) is an international organization of men and women joined together in spiritual growth through service to those who are in need and suffering. Believing we are all created in God’s image, we offer assistance with empathy, trust and friendship, while preserving the utmost dignity and confidentiality.

How all this gets done (Our donors & Volunteers)

We are grateful to our sponsor, St. Agnes Catholic Church, whose members compose our core group of volunteers. We are thankful for support from other individuals and community churches especially Saint David's Episcopal, Church of the Lakes,  Brown County Presbyterian Fellowship, Nashville United Methodist, Nashville Christian, Parkview Nazarene, The Pentecostals, Becks Grove Christian and Christiansburg United Methodist.

We are also blessed with many donors who provide funds, food, clothing and more. See the Our Partners page for more about our place in the amazing network of community support in Brown County. See the How to Help page to find out how you can Help Us Help Others.
