ADVERSE WEATHER POLICY

If the pantry/warehouse must close due to adverse weather, we will contact our volunteers by phone and/or e-mail. We will close when the Brown County Schools close due to weather. On Saturdays, if we close due to weather, we will put a message on our telephone recording (812-988-8821).

SVDP Brown County COVID Policy - 9/29/2021

  • Only two clients are allowed in clothing area of SVDP warehouse at any given time. Others interested will be invited to wait until it is their turn to enter the building.
  • Only one client will be allowed in the "furniture, appliance, and household goods area" at any given time. Others interested will be invited inside when it is their  turn.
  • All volunteers and clients are required to wear a mask (covering mouth and nose) when in the SVDP building during times when the pantry is open for food distribution and at all times when a safe "social distance" cannot be maintained from other volunteers. At this time, a face shield is not considered an adequate substitute for a mask.
  • SVDP volunteers will not enter a client's home to pick up or deliver donations at times when Brown County is identified as being in either the orange or red zone as determined by the Indiana Department of Health. This designation is updated weekly at noon on Wednesday and can be found at coronavirus.in.gov. Pickup/delivery of items can be arranged at times when Brown County is identified as being in the orange or red zone ONLY if the items can be picked up or delivered outside the home.

Face mask.

DISTRIBUTION POLICY FOR OUR FAMILIES

Please remember when shopping, if you do not need something or already have enough at home, you are free to say “no” to an item and leave it for another family.

All clothing, appliances and furniture are donated to St. Vincent de Paul to benefit those in need. We try to be fair by limiting each family to 2 large items per year. Help us help as many as possible, by taking only what you need.

Vincentians endeavor to establish relationships based on trust and friendship with those we serve.

Non-Discrimination Policy

In accordance with Federal civil rights law and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) civil rights regulations and policies, the USDA, its Agencies, offices, and employees, and institutions participating in or administering USDA programs are prohibited from discriminating based on race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, or reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity in any program or activity conducted or funded by USDA.

Persons with disabilities who require alternative means of communication for program information (e.g. Braille, large print, audiotape, American Sign Language, etc.), should contact the Agency (State or local) where they applied for benefits. Individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing or have speech disabilities may contact USDA through the Federal Relay Service at (800) 877-8339. Additionally, program information may be made available in languages other than English.
